Medical reports describe insurer AIA's practices as damaging. CEO Damien Mu refuses to act
The issue
On 31 January 2019, AIA CEO Mr Damien Mu wrote to my Federal MP, “We want to ensure [claimant] is aware that she always has the opportunity to provide us with new information or to ask us to re-open her claim”.
I therefore provided AIA with 44 videos similar to this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTHO0XPJ1HA&list=PLCt-gIcOGE-CGpE-1I9ctLVyTSsRrjqdd&index=20
They demonstrate some of the symptoms I would suffer on a weekly basis, usually for days on end, in a fluctuating, unpredictable manner. There was tremendous pressure from AIA to work when I did not know when I would have a ‘good’ day.
I also provided medical reports which state: “Subjective judgement and invalidation of someone else’s symptoms is not only intrinsically a wrong thing to do, but it is also threatening and capable of provoking the very processes being questioned.” The doctor confirmed that the model of care used “via insurer case management and legally to dispute and deny [my] condition is not only abundantly flawed but it is also abundantly unhelpful. It is an integral part of the problem.”
Furthermore, Mr Mu has spoken with my psychologist who confirmed that I was unwell and that AIA’s practices were impacting my health.
Mr Mu himself said he wouldn’t want anyone to have an experience like mine, but then referred to the position AIA had put me in as a mere “inconvenience”.
While Mr Mu actively advocates on mental health issues, many people are suffering as his company's economic growth is reliant on people being plummeted into despair, both financially and emotionally. https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/aia-australia
85% of reviewers on Product Review only give AIA a one-star rating out of 5 (zero stars is not an option).
Please sign my petition to give AFCA the authority to review my case in its entirety, given Mr Mu refuses to “re-open” my claim and to act in good faith on the new medical evidence he welcomed.
