Hi All of You Animal Guardian Protectors,

I launched this petition because as in my Facebook post stated, when I first saw this gruesome and unnecessarily cruel capture on Facebook, it really ticked me off and triggered me to use this platform to gather our collective voices for our friendly intelligent four-legged friends who cannot speak for themselves.

Thanks to you all, we’re now over 500 supporters in little less than 48 hours of this petition, but still need more supports to make an impact for our voices to be heard for these dogs and animals as well as to get the Director of AFCD to hear us loud and clear to mandate changes in their outdated policies and practices, policies and practices that are largely ineffective causing more harm than good to the animals.

It’s our goal to get as many supporters as we can so the officials have fewer excuses and harder reasons to turn down our requests.  With over 500-strong supporters and as we’re gaining more supporters by the minute, we, as joint petitioners, will have louder voices to get the officials to listen with 3 provisions from us:

#1 - We will submit email directly to the Director of AFCD to ask for his immediate response about this incident.

#2 - We want the Director of AFCD to give the public commitment to immediately stop using cruel and unethical practices to capture defenseless strays but to adopt safe and humane practice policy for future capture of stray or lost dogs, cats and animals, and to provide relevant animal care training to all AFCD frontline staff and contractors.

#3 - We want the Director of AFCD and the Chief Secretary of HKSAR to pledge their strong support for additional and better animal protection laws and to establish animal police unit with adequate and dedicated resources to better enforce animal law in Hong Kong and to increase prosecution of violators with stiffer sentences to better protect animal welfare as a whole.

If we don’t reach enough supporters in a short time, this terrifying incident by AFCD will probably be forgotten faster than the time you line up for your Starbucks coffee.  AFCD will indeed get away with this kind of cruel practice without any reprimand and improved changes and may continue their inhumane practice without any scrutiny and oversight.

You can help us all to take this to the next level.  Continue your support by sharing with your friends on your Facebook or Twitter.  On behalf of all our 4-legged friends, thanks to you all for helping us to a better life.

Thanks so much for the support!
