The Issue

We, the undersigned parents, students, staff, and taxpayers of Pueblo County & School District 70, respectfully call for immediate corrective action to restore stability, transparency, and public confidence in our Board of Education.  We demand the immediate resignation of Ann Bennett, A.J. Wilson, & Attorney Brad Miller.

WHY YOU ASK?
Board Directors Ann Bennett and AJ Wilson have violated the public trust and their fiduciary duty by retaining an overpriced attorney, Brad Miller, with clear political conflicts—at our taxpayer expense. They are making a mockery of Pueblo County School district 70 with their theatrics.

They attempted to subvert Colorado Open Meetings Law, the D70 Board, and the District to install an appointee, Susie Carnes, tied to efforts to divert public school dollars to religious schools. This is not about students. It’s about power, politics, agenda, culture wars, & clout farming at the expense of our community.

Meanwhile, district funds meant for classrooms are being drained into excessive legal fees and politically driven projects at the expense of our kids school programs in our already strapped district.

We are facing school closures and they are trying to leverage our taxpayer funds for their supreme court goals.

From Blende to Liberty Point to Rye to Avondale, families want strong public schools—not ideological experiments using our kids as the guinea pigs!

District 70 cannot move forward under polluted governance. We need new leadership and legal counsel that put students and the community first. Accountability and immediate change are not optional—they are necessary to protect our district’s future.

District 70 belongs to its students, families, educators, and Pueblo County taxpayers -- not radical Colorado Springs lawyers like Brad Miller of Farmer, Carlson Law.

When leadership becomes a source of instability, public embarrassment, and fiduciary mismanagement, responsible transition is not punitive — it is protective. Pueblo parents, teachers, and concerned residents believe in and protect our kids from predatory practices.

We demand accountability. We demand the resignation of BOE directors Ann Bennett, AJ Wilson, and Susie Carnes (should Bennett’s illegitimate attempts to appoint continue). We demand the immediate resignation or termination of Brad Miller's overpriced and bad legal counsel.  We stand together as a community against culture wars! We are one community united for our kids & teachers to protect public education in Pueblo against predatory special interests!

Sincerely,

The Pueblo County D70 Community

Criminal complaints have been filed with the District Attorney against former D70 President Anne Ochs & Brad Miller, however this statement reflects the opinions and concerns of community members and is protected political speech, not an allegation of criminal or unlawful conduct.
