Stop the illegal requirements for 6-11 y.o kids to wear masks and get tested in Cyprus

The Issue

In the light of the Council of Minister’s restrictive measures announcement on the 24.11.2021 we protest against the following measures for children aged 6-11 introduced as of 29 November 2021:

- all primary school pupils will undergo rapid antigen tests on a weekly basis, through of the Ministry of Health mobile testing units;
- all individuals aged 6-11 must carry a Safe Pass. The Safe Pass conditions applicable to this group are: a) the COVID-19 recovery certificate during the last six (6) months, or
(b) a certificate of a negative result from a PCR or rapid antigen test valid for seven (7) days;
- the age limit for wearing masks is reduced to 6 years of age, in all areas where the protective mask is required.

The new requirements to wear masks and make frequent testing of primary school children are leading to physical and mental harm to our children and cannot be accepted by parents. They are illegal and violate the human rights of the children and also the international bioethics conventions.
