Save our Ice! Don't shrink the rink!

The Issue

Thank you for your support! The developers want to move and shrink the Lloyd Center rink simply to make it more visually appealing. In reality they will be destroying everything that makes the rink such an entertaining and important part of the mall, and portland.

The rink is already 25% smaller than a standard rink, making it an additional 30% smaller will end the active skating program at the rink.

The renovation will destroy all of the historic elements that make the rink an iconic part of Portland's past.

The rink will be so tiny and cramped that skaters will be unable to practice jumps and spins.

The rink will be too small for the ice dancers to practice their patterns.

There will be no more shows and competitions. Both entertain shoppers and teach skaters the rewards of hard work and sportsmanship.

It will create a huge barrier to skating for inner city kids and adults who rely on public transportation.

It will take away a fun, healthy and indoor source of exercise for Portlanders of all ages.

It will make it even harder for our young elite skaters to reach their dreams.

The Lloyd Center has the only available evening skate sessions that accommodate the 8-5 working adult skaters. Our dedicated adult team placed 4th at Nationals last year!

Increased crowding and skater congestion will decrease the fun for everyone! Three viewing levels and a showcase of a rink is not worth the loss it will cause. Please help us save our ice!
