Stop Selling Alcohol At CVS

Stop Selling Alcohol At CVS
The Issue
A pharmacy, by definition is a “place where medicinal drugs are dispensed and sold.” Alcohol is NOT a medicinal drug, it is recreational. Alcohol should not have a place at an establishment that was created to help aid those suffering from an illness. Selling alcohol is perpetuating the idea that it’s a safe, acceptable social behavior; when it isn’t.
"Ending the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products at CVS/pharmacy is the right thing for us to do for our customers and our company to help people on their path to better health," Larry J. Merlo, president and CEO of CVS Caremark, said in a statement. "Put simply, the sale of tobacco products is inconsistent with our purpose."(Source CNN Health)
In 2014, CVS stopped selling tobacco because it was “the right thing to do...to help people on their path to better health,” quitting Merlo, CEO of CVS Caremark. So are we to understand that selling alcohol, which kills 88,000 American a year is consistent with their purpose?
When CVS stopped selling tobacco, the number of national smokers DECREASED. Let’s keep saving lives, and decreasing the chance of alcohol-related diseases. Sign today to take alcohol out of pharmacies and save lives!
