Make CVS Commit to Recycling

Make CVS Commit to Recycling

The Issue

Recycling is a simple way to prevent waste and help convert materials into reusable objects. By recycling we are reducing the amount of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. According to New York State’s Returnable Container Act, stores must accept consumers returned containers of items that the store sells.  In return the consumers bottle deposit is refunded. At small stores such as CVS, while they are required to accept container returns the store does not have reverse vending machines.  Because of this the containers the consumer returned to the store end up in the garbage and are not actually recycled. This petition is asking CVS as well as other small stores to commit to recycling and invest in reverse vending machines for bottle returns.
