The Issue

I find it very sad and disheartening that I would even have to be putting together a post like this. My daughter Brooklyn, has been part of the Cherry Valley region for the past 2 seasons. For the most part, it has always been such a positive experience, not only building in her skills as a barrel racer, but also her confidence and being there to cheer on each and every rider. Everyone of those riders, no matter what division or age that they are, has worked extremely hard to get where they are. That moment that they are on their horse and they are in control, that is their safe Haven and their time to be able to escape from the reality that they are battling each and every day. Whether it be 16 seconds or a minute and a half that is their moment to just be one with their horse and forget all of what’s going on in their world. At the end of the day, to recognize each rider and ribbons and awards are given, that is their time to shine and be recognized for their hard work. On Saturday, my daughters was stripped away from her. Announcing winners on the microphone, and over the PA system, from Division 3, to be followed with “no one,” then to say Brooklyn Dage, to be followed with a “boo.” Sadly, this came not only from a grown man, but also the VP of Cherry Valley Region. Whether it was meant to be  “innocent fun or joking,” it’s important to be reminded that you are in fact setting the tone for what is to be tolerated. And you certainly did, with your daughters quickly following in your footsteps with their “boos” as well. And at my daughter’s expense. My daughter is no more important than anyone else there, but she’s also no less. She pays just as much to attend each show, and works just as hard as every single rider does. She is there every show to cheer on, and encourage all riders in all divisions and she will continue to do so. I will say, that this incident is not the face of this region. Kristi and Taryn and have continued to work hard in making each show fun for all the riders and will continue to make sure each rider will continue to be recognized in the respect that is deserved. I truly hope that this will be addressed. If this was meant to be “joking or fun,” then possibly look into having someone else announce the riders awards as I don’t feel that anyone would think that this was appropriate, in taking anyone’s moment away from them. With that being said, we will see everyone next show. Keep up all the hard work, each and everyone of you should truly feel that proud of yourselves 🤍

This is the reason for this petition. This was an incident that happened on Saturday, April 12th in Beaumont CA. Anyone that knows about barrel racing and Gymkhanas, knows how much hard work and dedication these riders put into their passion of riding. I have had countless private messages and phone calls about this man’s behavior and just complete disrespect. Sadly, a lot of the riders from last year, have opted to not return to this region, specifically because of this man. This fight is not just for my daughter, but for all riders. They deserve to have their moment, and most importantly the respect that has been earned for the sport itself. This individual has impacted many riders and their families in a very negative way, and he currently holds a spot on the board as VP of this region! As a board member, although respect and encouragement should be common sense, you sir are and should be held to higher standards. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated and he needs to be held accountable for his actions. By taking this stance, we are hoping to change the face of this region and bring back so many missed and talented riders, and set the example that this kind of behavior should never be accepted. Thank you for your support
