Next Thursday (July 23) marks the 8 month anniversary of the Death of 12 year old Tamir Rice. This will be a big day for us, as we the Tamir Rice Justice Committee will begin to implement Phase One of our #JusticesForTamir Petition Drive. That is when we will hold a press conference and present the petitions with nearly 60,000 signatures to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty. Your help is critical in making this important occasion a success. In order to do so, We need you to publicize it to your contacts and, if possible, organize the members of your ward clubs, congregations, unions and other grassroots groups to form contingents with identifying signs for the march. We will gather at the Free Stamp at 1:00pm in Downtown Cleveland and March over to the Justice Center. While we are there we will be holding a press conference Calling for charges to be filed against the Officers involved in the playground shooting death of 12 year old Tamir Rice. A Cleveland Municipal Court has ruled there is probable cause to charge the officers responsible for Tamir's death with murder and other crimes. That was obvious from the video of the incident which occurred eight months ago. This community has waited long enough and it is time for Prosecutor McGinty to take action and seek justice on behalf of the people of Cuyahoga County as he was elected to do. The Rice Family will be there with us along with guest speakers at the press conference which will include Rev. C. Jay Matthews, Councilman Jeff Johnson, Mark Milko of the AFL-CIO and Nick Martin of the Democratic Party. The Tamir Rice Justice Committee invites ALL who believe these officers should be arrested, charged and made to defend their actions in court to meet at the Free Stamp next to Cleveland City Hall Thursday, July 23, at 1 pm.
