Congress is the law-making body of the United States government and it is no place for convicted felons.

Members of Congress who have been convicted of felonies while in office are then able to receive their benefits package while in prison. This is insulting to the tax-paying citizens who are required to obey the same laws and who lose their job, should they end up in prison.

Individuals in public office who have been convicted of a felony should lose their public office immediately and all the benefits associated with that office as a punitive action against those in positions of public trust and power.

Members of Congress who are unable to obey the laws they pass have no right to be in public office or to receive the excessive benefits package that comes with the job.
