In 2020 Covid crippled our economy, devastated families and caused the world to adjust to a new normal. For the past 12 years I have been employed with Wal-mart. I have seen this company change from a company with a plethora of opportunities, benefits and with customer satisfaction the priority. In 2020 Wal-Mart restructured it’s management positions eliminating Department Managers. The replacement of these Department Managers are now called Team Leads. These Team Leads are giving the areas once held by Department Managers. They are not solely responsible for one area of the store for ex: The Toys Department these Team Leads may have to oversee two to three other departments as well. They are also given more responsibility such as scheduling, attendance tracking, interviews, etc. Team Leads are not effectively working for majority of the stores. Many of these associates with a Team Lead title are stressed, miserable and overwhelmed. There has been Team Leads that have stepped down to lower positions due to the demanding and overwhelming amount of workload handled to them with no associates or a Team to Lead. They are not provided with many associates is required to get multiple departments stocked, priced, zoned and managed or risk being held accountable. Department Managers we’re assigned to one or two areas at the max. They were given a few associates to help them manage their departments. Having Department Managers in places throughout the store one in almost every department benefited the customers and also the associates. The departments were neater, cleaner, and more organized. Customers needs were met, their shopping experience was better. The overall Wal-Mart environment felt complete with Department Managers leading the charge in the Wal-Marts all throughout this nation and the world. The Customers and the in store Associates are the ones hurting by the reconstruction of Wal-Mart management team. The Customers and the Associates have the power to bring back Department Managers!
