As you may or may not know, i-Ready is a platform used by teachers across the globe to provide interactive lessons and exams to students in different subjects, areas, and topics. By doing this, i-Ready also intertwines characters into the story plot to make it easier to follow along and more entertaining for kids. However, I would like to bring attention to a specific character referred to as Max in the i-Ready lessons. In many of the interactive lessons, we find Max being the fun, dorky, computer nerd stereotype in the friend group consisting of Carrie, Brandi, and Max. Although it all might seem like an innocent kids educational program, they are forcing and manipulating Max to work there for every single episode. Knowing that this is a place for young people usually under the ages of 13, they need to make it as kid-friendly or PG as they possibly can. By doing this, they are forcing Max to act differently and tame himself to be as kid appropriate as possible. Though, Max only wants to be his true self. In reality Max is actually Marric.. they thought his name was too complicated for kids so they changed that.. too, ridiculous. But that isn’t even close to the worst part. Marric only wants to paint his nails vibrant red, rap, curse, jump chairs, you name it. He is an e-boy at heart and he just can’t express it since the early 2000’s, talk about all those years silenced. Together we can boycott i-Ready and bring an end to the infamous company owned by Curriculum Associates. This is torture at it’s finest and should not be tolerated by anyone.
