Take immediate action to nullify the adoption of Bobo by Chris and Robin Eaton and return Bobo to his owner, Amber ‘Niki’ Davis.
The Issue
Dear Cumberland County Board of Commissioners,
We are asking that you take immediate action to nullify the adoption of Bobo by Chris and Robin Eaton and return Bobo to his owner, Amber ‘Niki’ Davis.
The lawsuit against Cumberland County Animal Shelter and Chris and Robin Eaton (copy attached) substantiates that laws were violated on January 26, 2015. From the moment Cumberland County Animal Shelter learned of Bobo’s owner, which would have been at 8:50 a.m. on the morning of January 26, 2015, shelter staff were required to make a reasonable attempt to contact the owner by phone call and/or letter. Furthermore, at 9:02 a.m. on January 26, 2015 when Dan Smith arrived at the shelter and once again provided the necessary information about Bobo’s owner, the shelter staff should have discontinued the adoption paperwork with Chris Eaton until they took the required steps to contact Bobo’s owner.
Amber ‘Niki’ Davis is Bobo’s rightful owner and has been since Bobo was eight (8) weeks old. Bobo has been a ‘best friend’ to Ms. Davis’ two little girls who are heartbroken over not having him home. Bobo is a much loved member of their family and has been well taken care of. Bobo was up-to-date on vaccinations and licensed in Cumberland County.
Several attempts have been made with Cumberland County Animal Shelter, Cumberland County officials, and the Eatons to resolve this matter and reunite Bobo with Ms. Davis and her two minor daughters. However, as of today, the Bobo is still being detained by the Eatons. Ultimately, it appears that taxpayers’ dollars will be funding legal recourse since a lawsuit has been filed in another effort to reunite Bobo with Ms. Davis and her two minor daughters. Wouldn't the taxpayers’ dollars be better used to invest in the Cumberland County community rather than funding the County’s expense of court costs and damages when this is a clear cut violation of the laws?
We respectfully ask that you look into what procedures and protocol were not followed and take immediate moral and ethical actions to return Bobo to his owner, Ms. Davis, and her two minor daughters.
Respectfully submitted,
