Remove Ariana Lamb as the CSUSB Student advocate and head of VOICE PEERS

The Issue

Ariana Lamb is the current student advocate and faculty head of VOICE. Ariana is not fit to be the student advocate at CSUSB! We have heard from numerous people that she has made clear stance against the black lives matter movement, against the undocumented community, and promotes blue lives matter. There is no room for racism and ignorance at CSUSB, so we must remove her from her position and hire someone better fit to advocate for our students. After trying to communicate our opinions she has proven to us that she is not on the right side of history and does not understand what VOICE was created for or what it stands for. Ariana believes that VOICE is ONLY a platform to spread awareness for Sexual assault and Domestic Violence. The VOICE Peer Educators are supposed to be a group that works to educate the campus community and prevent violence in many forms on campus. Some issues we have advocated for in the past five years have been, domestic violence, mental health, sexual assault, police brutality, gun violence, LGBTQ rights, and we spoke out against the results of the 2016 presidential election. During a phone call today, June 5th, 2020, she said that it is not the job of VOICE to promote Black Lives Matters and that it is the duty of the Pan-African Student Success Center. She also claimed that the reason VOICE has not spoken out about the BLM movement is that CSUSB would not allow them to, which we have proven is a false statement. President Morales has made a statement with his stance and shared that he wants to see ALL of CSUSB stand together on this and that there is no room for hatred, bigotry, or racism at CSUSB. Not only did she blame the campus, but she also blamed the current CSUSB VOICE PEERS and said that they have not brought up the topic, but in their current group chat one of the members felt the need to ask permission about bringing up current topics. So, what does that tell you about her leadership of VOICE? After blaming the campus and the CSUSB VOICE PEERS she also said that they post based on what the campus wants to see. As a former student of CSUSB, I know how diverse that campus is and I know the students would not stand for this and would agree that that is not where we stand as a community. CSUSB stands with its black community and Ariana obviously doesn’t. When former VOICE Peers reached out she tried to gaslight us and told us we could call her supervisor, but nothing will happen because we aren’t students anymore. We all took a stance and commented on the VOICES recent Instagram posts and she only deleted the comments posted by Carissa Briggs, a former VOICE Peer and proud Black Female.
