The Issue

The frequent deaths of Indian Gray wolves in Jodhpur are a matter of grave concern. Three wolves died in one day at the banks of Luni River, Jodhpur. One by Road kill and other two by villagers. The Indian Gray wolf, an apex predator and integral part of the local ecosystem, is facing an alarming decline in numbers due to habitat loss, human encroachment, and inadequate conservation measures. These majestic creatures play a crucial role in maintaining the balance within their ecosystem, controlling prey populations, and ensuring biodiversity. Their decline indicates not only a loss of biodiversity but also a disruption in the ecological balance of the region.

Reports have surfaced that point towards accidental deaths due to increased vehicular movements, lack of safe corridors, and occasionally targeted killing. The expanding urban development, RIICO and Bajri mafia in and around Luni River,

Jodhpur have further led to habitat fragmentation, severely endangering the survival of these wolves. The forest department's involvement at this juncture is critical to reversing these detrimental effects.

Concrete actions are needed: developing protected areas, regulating urban sprawl, and implementing community awareness programs about the importance of these predators. Additionally, establishing wildlife corridors and enhancing monitoring efforts will help in mitigating human-wildlife conflict. The forest department must prioritize the implementation of a long-term conservation strategy to protect and preserve the Indian Gray wolves and their natural habitat.

Immediate attention and collaboration with wildlife experts can help in creating sustainable solutions that secure the future of the Indian Gray wolves. It is time to act decisively to save these incredible animals from further decline.

Sign this petition to urge the forest department to take immediate and effective action towards conserving the Indian Gray wolves in Jodhpur and ensuring their habitat is protected.
