Crosswalks Needed at Chewy & Amazon Bus Stops

The Issue

Our names are Adriana De Leon and Celina Leis, we are both Chewy employees who take the RTC bus to work and home every day. The bus drops us off across the street from the Chewy Fulfillment Center on N. Virginia St. and Reeder Way. On Match 31st, 2023, around 6 pm, our friend and co-worker had just gotten off his 10-hour shift when he was crossing the street on his electric bike and was struck by a passing car traveling south on N. Virginia. Despite the fact that the posted speed limit is 35 mph, drivers are known to be driving double the speed limit in the North Valleys. Our friend is currently in a medically induced coma with life-threatening injuries. We are asking the City of Reno to install two flashing crosswalks at each of the Route 7 bus stops so that Chewy and Amazon employees can safely cross the street and get to work. While all we can do for our friend is keep him in our thoughts and prays, we can make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else ever again. Our friend is a funny, kind, and hard worker who has dreams of becoming a police officer and providing for his new growing family. We can not let someone else, whose just trying to get to work and survive living in Reno, get hit by a speeding vehicle again. These crosswalks will save lives. Please sign our petition and provide your address (, we only ask for your address so the City of Reno can verify that your signature is truly yours,) to make his very important change possible.
