https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Student-Walks-14-Miles-to-School-Without-Sidewalks-Crosswalks-Dad-491437621.htmlThere are many families that have children walking to school in the neighborhoods surrounding the intersection of Business 1187 (Beverley St) & S Heights Dr. There are no crosswalks provided for the students of Bess Race Elementary, SH Crowley Intermediate (5th & 6th grades), Crowley 9th grade, and Crowley High School. The Police Dept does provide a crossing guard for the Elementary students but they are gone before the older students have to cross the intersection. This leaves children as young as 10 years old on their own to cross a major street unprotected. We are asking the City of Crowley to install a protected crosswalk at the intersection. Signage and striping need to be provided to ensure the safety of our children to and from their way to school.
