Hi,
it’s been a while since I last posted an update, mainly because there isn’t much to update, well, not in regards of the legal matters and investigation.
Things are happening, we are told, but we will have to wait and see!
In early November, we had Lillie’s birthday. There was a lot of anxiety leading up to the 9th November, which incidentally was the same day our dad passed away 3 years ago, we miss him so much but get comfort out of knowing, thinking, praying, dad and Lil are together!
Lillie’s garden (the cemetery) was alive with people coming and going all day. Debbie, Lillie’s mum created a beautiful scene at the garden and Lil’s family and friends brought gifts in the way of flowers and balloons, it truly was a beautiful sight… so bittersweet.
It’s strange how the anxiety you experience leading up to an anniversary can be overwhelming and then on the day it’s self, of course, the missing is so painful yet, you realise, it’s the same pain as yesterday and will be the same pain as tomorrow, that is never going away.
Debbie still spends her days sitting with Lillie at her garden and people still visit. It’s a beautiful place where other visitors stop and say hello, friendships have been made which our Lil would have loved. Lillie was a very sociable person and made friends everywhere.
As a family, we have always looked forward to Christmas, that, has changed forever.
We have tried to talk about it a couple of times but it’s too sad, too painful.
You can’t escape it at the moment and in the past I never considered how Christmas may not be a happy time for everyone,
We have been in touch with our MP and transport minister (well, their secretary). We were supposed to be meeting around this time however, due to the changes in parliament, we are a little unsure what is happening. We did wonder if we would have to start at the beginning, let’s hope not.
We have had so many families reach out to us. Families of people that lost their lives on our roads. Some are fighting for justice too, not necessarily the same as us - however, their passion for justice is the same.
Our campaign started when we realised an individual can kill someone on our roads (not called murder though!) and continue to drive until found guilty, which, could take over 1 year, possibly longer to gather all of the evidence!
This same individual can continue, without remorse, to live their best life including going on several holidays.
This is absolutely crazy and an insult to the person they killed and their families who have to sit back and do nothing!
We will continue to fight for LILLIES LAW and demand change. If nothing else, the driver of the car, the person that killed, should have their driving license suspended until they are proven to be guilty or innocent. If a court determines them innocent, their license is returned.
Thank you all for your continued support. It really means a lot to us. Thank you for signing, sharing and donating, if you did, for our petition… we haven’t hit the numbers we were hoping, we honestly believe it demonstrates how many people drink and drive or know someone that does… which is very sad.
That said, we have made an impact and people are listening… as time goes by, we are hopeful that we will have additional support which will be essential when meeting with ministers…
Please continue to share… although we are incredibly grateful, please do not donate via our petition, this money is for change.org only and not Lillie.
Best wishes too you all xx
