This time last year, we were preparing to say good night. The previous few days had been a whirlwind… we were on an emotional roller coaster clinging on to any little bit of hope the doctors gave. In hindsight, they knew, of course they knew, Lillie’s little body had been broken, despite her effort to hang on, she just couldn’t do it anymore… she tried for three days!
Looking back, I’m not sure how we got here. For us as a family and of course, Debbie and Michael (Lil’s mum and brother) the past 12 months have been torture and all the while, the person responsible for killing Lillie remains free. The police have and are working hard behind the scenes…unfortunately, it’s the process and system that is slow.
Today, the 28th December 2022, in memory of our girl, we will be walking from her little garden to the road where Lil lost her life. Friends and family will light a candle just before 5pm, the time Lillie’s heart stopped beating.
We have received so many wonderful and kind messages over the past few days and are touched to know that Lillie is in people’s thoughts and prayers.
For our family, Christmas will never be the same, we miss her so much.
We are hoping for a little boost to get us over the 25,000 mark so please, if you haven’t already, share our petition and check you confirmed your email. Please do not donate any money… just share.
I heard on the news, another young, 22 year old woman lost her life to a drunk driver on Christmas morning… absolutely heartbreaking… our hearts go out to her family…how many more loved ones will we have to lose before the penalties fit the crime? As it stands, these killers are laughing at the police!
We hope you spent time with your loved ones and made memories this year…. In the end, that’s all we have.
Take care and look after one another and thank you for your continued support xx
