It’s been a few weeks since I last posted an update simply because we have so much going on!
For those supporters that are following Lillie’s story, the driver still hasn’t been arrested! Whilst we understand there is evidence to gather, we will never understand how it can be right! The weeks, now months have passed and all this time they (the driver) is free to live their life while Debbie, Lillie’s mum, my sister sits in a cemetery all day long (until she’s chucked out) so she’s close to Lillie!
At this point (I may have said this previously… sorry!), no one has been held accountable for Lillie’s death, there have been no consequences to her loosing her life… Lillie’s passing is painful enough without the torment of this, long, drawn-out process!
On that note, our MP managed to have our campaign listed in the Houses of Parliament… unfortunately, the minister felt it would be too challenging to ‘change the law’ and feels a better approach would be to expedite the process from arrest! They don’t have a clue which is becoming increasingly frustrating! Our MP plans of having it listed again - let’s hope the minister understands our plea!
In amongst everything else that’s going on, Sutton Council made a decision to have Lillie’s beautiful memorials removed. Apparently, this was decided on balance during a council meeting. We, the family agreed (reluctantly) to remove the tributes but asked for a small plaque we had made and a photograph of Lillie to remain…
On the Tuesday morning after the Easter weekend, at 7am the council went to the site and removed them!
As you can imagine, this has caused significant additional stress to Debbie and 1 week of letter (from our MP) and phone calls. Eventually I spoke with a council representative who admitted, they got it wrong! Incidentally, their decision was based on 3 complaints Vs hundreds of local residents and surrounding area that complemented the memorial… it was a tough week! We asked if we could put the small plaque and picture back… someone was going to call me back the next day, of course they didn’t! Our liaison officer sorted it in the end and I’m pleased to say, Lillie’s beautiful face is back at the tree as is the little plaque…
We all miss Lillie very much… she had an amazing personality, she’d get on with everyone, a real people person… beautiful inside and out! Her croaky voice and infectious laugh will be in our hearts forever.
Take care & thank you for your support… together we will fight to get justice for our Lillie xx
