Skateboarding is an Olympic sport and Burlington, NC has many skateboarders but no public place to skate.  Currently, all city parks and downtown areas prohibit skateboarding.  With a public skatepark, Burlington will create a safe space for skateboarders and others to practice their skills without destroying public property.
