Every day, my family faces a challenge that could easily be resolved with a simple infrastructural change. My child attends White Hills Primary School, and my partner, who is disabled, finds it incredibly difficult to get to the school on time without a direct access route. Currently, without the access between Buckton Fields and Fairmile, the journey takes over an hour. With the necessary access, this journey could be reduced to just 20 minutes, drastically improving our daily lives.

This is not just about convenience. The absence of a direct pathway affects many families in and around Buckton Fields, particularly those living with disabilities or young children attending school in Fairmile. A direct right of way would enhance accessibility, significantly reducing travel time and ensuring a safer, more efficient route for parents, children, and people with disabilities.

Right now, the detours necessary for such a short journey create unnecessary hardships, particularly for those who may not have the physical ability or the time to take such long routes. Establishing a direct right of way between these two points would not only assist my family but also benefit the wider community by fostering better connections between neighborhoods, improving access to essential services, and promoting inclusivity for all residents.

Statistics show that providing adequate walking and cycling routes encourages a healthier lifestyle and reduces traffic congestion, benefitting the environment and enhancing road safety. These benefits align with broader community goals of improving infrastructure, promoting active travel, and ensuring that every resident has equal access to important locations within Northampton.

Therefore, we urgently call on the local authorities to prioritize the development of a right of way from Buckton Fields to Fairmile. Such a project would not only address immediate accessibility concerns but also contribute to the well-being and cohesion of the entire Northampton community.
