I have lived in this town my entire life, and each year the traffic in the spring and summer months gets worse and worse. Additionally, the increases in traffic are no longer specifically from tourists. Apartments and housing developments are being built quickly, ramping up traffic. There are spaces where parking lots can be built, which will greatly impact the condensed traffic flow in town.

The spaces I have circled in the map are simply spaces that I think might work. The purpose of this petition is to bring awareness to this issue, and create more discussion around it. If the empty spaces we have in town cannot be used for parking, what other solutions are out there? Maybe instead of building more homes, we first build areas for parking. Maybe KSS could be better advertised for free parking during the summer months. 

Qualicum Beach is a beautiful place to live and visit, but our growing population and increasing number of visitors have made parking a significant issue. For the past few years the only damaged caused by the additional traffic is to people's moods. But more and more accidents are happening. By creating more parking lots around town, we can alleviate congestion, improve safety for pedestrians and drivers alike, and enhance the overall experience for residents and tourists.
