Create funding for biodegradable plastics

The Issue

As an environmentalist and animal activist, I’ve dedicated much of my life to advocating for the preservation of our ecosystems. Throughout my time delivering speeches across New York City, I've been moved by the beauty and fragility of our natural world. However, I am deeply saddened to witness the pollution tarnishing our oceans and the declining populations of wonderful animals, largely due to the influx of non-biodegradable plastics.

Non-biodegradable plastics continue to be a pressing environmental issue, incapacitating our ability to maintain a sustainable and clean environment. With millions of tons produced annually, these plastics take centuries to decompose, inflicting irreversible damage on marine life and terrestrial ecosystems. They form massive islands of waste in our oceans, entangling and poisoning marine life and infiltrating our food chain.

Biodegradable plastics present a promising alternative, engineered to degrade more quickly and reduce pollution's harmful impacts. Investing in research and production of these materials requires adequate funding and government support. Yet, despite their potential, biodegradable plastics remain underfunded and underutilized.

We urge Congress and relevant governmental agencies to allocate significant funding and resources towards the research, development, and widespread implementation of biodegradable plastics. By doing so, we can foster innovation, create jobs, and most importantly, protect our planet and its inhabitants.

You can be part of this change. Sign the petition to advocate for a sustainable future for our environment and all the wonderful creatures that call Earth their home.
