Petition Title:
“Demand Transparency and Justification for C-Suite Salaries”

Introduction:

Every year, the gap between C-suite executives' pay and the average employee’s salary continues to widen, reaching unprecedented levels. In many companies, executives earn 1000 times more than their workers, yet there is little to no transparency about what they do daily to justify these astronomical salaries.

We believe it is time for C-suite executives to openly justify their compensation and provide insight into their day-to-day activities. We are calling on executives to explain how their work merits such extraordinary pay in comparison to the employees who contribute to the company's success.

The Issue:

Currently, the average CEO earns more than 1,000 times the salary of their average worker. This growing disparity is often justified by the argument that these executives have unique skills or make decisions that are critical to the company’s success. However, there is little transparency around their daily contributions, responsibilities, and how they add value to their organizations.

While millions of workers face layoffs, pay cuts, and job insecurity, C-suite executives continue to receive substantial salaries, bonuses, and stock options. In many cases, executives even benefit from hefty pay packages despite poor company performance, leaving employees and shareholders questioning the fairness of such compensation practices.

Our Demand:

We, the undersigned, demand the following from C-suite executives:

Transparency in Compensation: Provide a detailed breakdown of salaries, bonuses, stock options, and other compensation, and explain how these amounts are calculated.

Accountability for Daily Activities: Share a transparent overview of their daily activities, decisions, and contributions that justify their salaries. We ask executives to disclose their weekly schedules, key meetings, decisions made, and direct impacts on the company's success.

Fair Compensation Practices: Commit to reducing the pay gap between the highest and lowest-paid employees by adopting fairer compensation practices, such as pay ratio caps or linking executive pay to company performance and employee well-being.

Why This Matters:

The current system is unsustainable and contributes to growing economic inequality, diminished morale among workers, and a lack of trust in corporate governance. We believe that companies can only thrive in the long term when they are equitable, transparent, and accountable to all stakeholders—not just a privileged few.

By demanding transparency and justification, we aim to hold executives accountable and create a more balanced, fair, and sustainable economic environment.

Call to Action:

Together, we can create a system where everyone—employees, shareholders, and society—benefits fairly.
