Mattel has created two engineer Barbies. The first one, Barbie the computer engineer, was created, along with a book, where Barbie was perceived as being incompetent at computer engineering, and it sparked a controversy. The robotics engineer Barbie dolls were part of the Career of the Year (2018) limited edition promotion. Since then, there has been an absence of engineer Barbie dolls. Tons of different types of engineers exist, such as electrical engineers, civic engineers, biomedical engineers, and many others. The Barbie motto is "you can be anything". The goal of this petition is to persuade Mattel to produce a new Barbie engineer doll. Women in STEM need all the representation they can get, and the variation of Barbie dolls with different careers can help inspire little girls to pursue their dreams. Sign this petition to help show Mattel that a new, non-limited edition Barbie engineer doll should be created.
