The Issue

My friends died in Ukraine—real brothers, pulling the wounded, lost in Bakhmut. Their families still endure the wrenching pain of their absence. If Ukraine falls, Russia won't stop. The threat marches on to Poland, the Baltics, Romania, edging closer to NATO territories. Then Europe crumbles, and under Article 5, U.S. troops will inevitably be drawn in. We are not protected behind our oceans.

That's why we propose the creation of a voluntary pilot program for carefully screened non-violent men and women currently serving 15- to 25-year sentences in state and federal prisons to volunteer with Ukraine's Armed Forces or the International Legion.

This initiative is not about pity; it is about giving people a chance to find honor through service. Non-violent offenders, given rigorous screening and training, could make meaningful contributions to Ukraine's defense efforts. In turn, their sentences could be commuted as a reward for their courage and commitment.

We urge the President, Congress, state governors, and the Departments of Corrections to examine the potential benefits of such a program. Imagine commuted sentences balanced by meritorious service could transform lives while assisting in an international defense effort crucial to global stability.

This is about defense—we cannot squander the time bought by the sacrifices of those who have already fallen. By implementing this program, we could foster a new avenue for rehabilitation while strengthening international alliances.

Sign this petition if you believe in offering redemption through honor. Together, we can forge a path that strengthens the fabric of international unity, upholds peace, and honors the memory of those who sacrificed all for our collective security.
