Create a free universal healthcare program for our state, Governor Newsom!

The Issue

Dear Gov. Newsom, the State House, and the State Senate,

We, the people of California are falling behind many countries of the world including our nation's allies because we lack many things that most of them have in their own borders, universal healthcare is one of these things that we do not have and who do we blame for this, the Republicans in DC and some Democrats. The COVID-19 pandemic right now has also made this demand for universal healthcare high because not everyone can afford nor have insurance to be treated during a time like this. On March 24th, 2020, in Lancaster, Los Angeles County, a 17-year old teen died of this disease because he had been refused entry in a hospital for not showing his health insurance. Even though some people have private health insurance, some of them were denied coverage by their insurance companies for one or more treatments. So please help give us a free universal healthcare program for all Californians no matter their income that is funded by taxes. There are many Californians who do not have healthcare because they could not pay for it. A hospital bill can cost thousands of dollars, for certain people who have coverage by their health insurance plan, health insurance companies may pay some of that bill or none, how can an average resident of this state pay for such a luxury that is a need for all human beings? Please, Sacramento, please set a good example to other states and territories, so that way they can have their own universal healthcare programs as well.

The requirements for a person to be eligible in this universal healthcare program will be:

  • A US citizen, permanent resident or a DACA recipient
  • Lived in California for at least three years

Sincerely,

The people of California
