Create a Public Online System to Verify Warrants and Court Orders
The Issue
Petition Summary
We call on the UK Government to create a secure, publicly accessible online system where any member of the public can verify the authenticity of warrants, court orders, and enforcement documents of all descriptions.
Why This Matters to Me
I’ve seen firsthand how enforcement officers present documents that lack any visible seal or signature — and refuse to show proof when asked.
In one case, a bailiff arrived at my door claiming authority from a court order. I asked to see the warrant. What I was shown had no seal, no signature, and no reference number. It looked like a printout — not a lawful instrument.
When I challenged it, I was met with hostility and evasion. I later contacted the court directly and was told they couldn’t confirm the document without a reference number. I am 71, firmly in the vulnerable category, they just don't care or follow protocol.
This experience left me feeling vulnerable, unheard, and unprotected. If the law is real, it must be visible and verifiable.
That’s why I’m calling for an online warrant verification system — so no one else has to rely on blind trust when their rights are at stake.
This system must:
Require every order to carry a unique reference number
Display both the court seal and authorising signature
Allow instant public access for verification before enforcement
Publish monthly transparency reports showing how many orders were issued, sealed, signed, and verified
Without this, enforcement actions risk being carried out on unsealed, unsigned, and unverifiable documents, undermining the Nolan Principles of openness, accountability, and integrity.
⚖️ Why This Is Urgent
The public has no way to confirm whether a presented warrant or order is genuine. This leaves people vulnerable to unlawful enforcement and erodes trust in the justice system.
No seal, no signature, no authority. No online verification, no public trust. Justice must be visible to be lawful.
