Petition updateCreate a National Railcard for NHS Workers🚆 NHS Railcard (Parliament Petition)

I admit defeat. I tried, and I failed. I reached out to hospitals, unions, MPs, influencers, journalists… and somewhere along the way, the message got lost.

Hospitals and reps didn’t share it widely. My own union didn’t support it because “it’s for all NHS staff, not just nurses.” So many people said how much it would help — and I truly believe it would — but most didn’t sign or share. Influencers had bigger things to post. Some interviews never got published (thanks for wasting my time, Owen Scott, The Sun), and others just stopped replying (Sophie Nicholson, that’s tv).

I really thought this one would be different. A fair, practical solution to help NHS workers who travel long distances to work. A railcard to ease the cost of commuting, especially for those doing night shifts, shouldn’t have been so hard to rally behind.

The Parliament petition expires in December. I won’t be pushing it anymore — I’ve given it everything I could. And honestly, I also got busy with a new role, and didn’t have the time to keep making reels that, in the end, weren’t getting the attention needed anyway.

Still, I want to say thank you to Will Foster, Woking MP, the only MP who actually answered and offered his time and support for both campaigns. But for that to go anywhere, I needed more signatures — and I didn’t get them.

I wanted to help myself, yes, but also every one of you who travels daily to care for others. I couldn’t make it happen. Good luck to the next person who tries. I’ll be right there signing and sharing when the time comes.

Until then.
