Create a national public animal abuser registry

Create a national public animal abuser registry
The Issue
Animal abuse is a grave concern not just in isolated regions, but across the entire United States. Today, only Tennessee and Florida provide statewide access to a public registry for animal abusers, leaving the rest of the nation vulnerable to repeated cruelty.
Every year, incidents of animal abuse and neglect go unregistered, allowing offenders to continue acquiring more animals and perpetuating cycles of harm. It's infuriating to think that a convicted abuser can simply move to another state and start over without any oversight. Animals, much like people, deserve protection and care.
The Federal government should create a comprehensive, national public animal abuse registry that would be accessible by veterinarians, breeders, animal charities, and the public, providing a crucial resource in identifying past offenders and preventing further suffering. As well as introducing an automatic, lifetime ban on animal ownership for those convicted of abuse, thus eliminating the possibility of decisions being left solely to a judge's discretion. This would ensure a consistent, just consequence for such an inexcusable crime.
where registries exist, they make a significant difference. In Tennessee and Florida, the registries help flag offenders, reducing the likelihood of repeated offenses. It's high time that such protection extends nationwide, leaving no room for animal abuse to fly under the radar.
The humane treatment of animals is a measure of society's moral compass. Let’s raise the bar for justice and ensure the safety of our animals. Sign this petition to demand the federal government to implement a national public animal abuse registry and enforce a mandatory lifetime ban on animal ownership for all offenders. Together, we can break the cycle of abuse and make a meaningful difference for the voiceless creatures who deserve our protection.
