The Issue

Indigenous communities across the United States face a crisis—our people are going missing at alarming rates, yet their cases are too often ignored, underreported, or lost in a broken system. The lack of a centralized, nationwide database prevents families, advocates, and law enforcement from effectively tracking, investigating, and solving these cases.

Washington state took a groundbreaking step by implementing the first statewide alert system for missing Indigenous people. Now, we must take this initiative nationwide. We call on Congress and federal agencies to create a National Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Database—a publicly accessible, federally managed system to track, report, and investigate missing Indigenous individuals across the country.

This database will:

• Centralize reports of missing Indigenous people from all states and tribal lands.

• Improve coordination between law enforcement agencies, tribal governments, and advocacy groups.

• Ensure families have a reliable resource for updates and case information.

• Bring accountability and urgency to solving these cases.

Too many Indigenous families are left without answers. Too many cases go cold due to a lack of proper tracking and reporting. We cannot allow this crisis to continue in silence. By signing this petition, you are demanding action to ensure missing and murdered Indigenous people are no longer overlooked.

Let’s unite for justice, accountability, and the protection of our Indigenous communities.
