The high unemployment rate in South Africa affects every household, creating poverty that destabilizes family units. Poverty is a pandemic that leads to crime and unstable families.

The current employment system in South Africa is vulnerable to exploitation and corruption by both the government and private sector. It is crucial to establish a centralized job portal to eliminate nepotism, favoritism, corruption, scammers, the hiring of undocumented individuals, and poverty at large.

We urgently call on the government, the private sector, civic society, and all political parties that contended in the 2024 National and Provincial Elections to take immediate action and convene a national job summit to discuss and adopt a centralized job portal. This new job search system would allow job seekers to apply for employment once, with companies being mandated to source their labor force through the South African Job Seekers Portal.

By implementing this system, we can ensure a fair and transparent hiring process, reducing corruption and helping to alleviate poverty in South Africa.
