The Issue

I am petitioning that an additional stop sign be placed on the state road 1045, at the crossing of S Ridge Rd and Mechanic St, to create a 4-way crossing.  It is alarming how many vehicle crashes have been at this intersection as a result of drivers being unable to see past the neighboring houses. I live at this corner, and it is heartbreaking and incredible to see how quickly my neighbors rush to aid those in vehicle crashes because it occurs often, when this could be prevented with another stop sign. Alarmingly, vehicle accidents at this intersection have become so frequent that it's become routine for neighbors to rush out with brooms and traffic vests to assist. This act of community support underscores the gravity of the situation. This should not be normalized for the people in my community, including the children that live in this neighborhood. I believe that a stop sign will prevent further accidents and injuries, and create a safer route on 1045. Installing a stop sign to create a 4-way stop would significantly improve safety for all. Aside from reducing the number of accidents, it would allow pedestrians to cross safely and ensure drivers can navigate this intersection with confidence, no longer plagued by uncertainty and fear. According to studies, implementing 4-way stops at dangerous intersections can dramatically reduce accidents by as much as 77%. Many communities have adopted similar measures and have seen tangible improvements in safety and quality of life. By signing this petition, you can be part of the solution to make our neighborhood a safer place. Let’s urge our local government to take action and install a stop sign at this intersection before more preventable accidents occur. Sign now to demand change for a safer Reinholds, PA.
