Look at this picture. This is a dog that was purchased as a puppy from Craigslist 11 months ago for $150. She now sits at a California shelter on the euthanasia list because "she doesn't get along with the new dog" (most likely making room for getting a new dog for Christmas) This is one of many common excuses people use to dump their unwanted animals when they are no longer adorable puppies. This particular girl, barring a miracle will be euthanized in 2 days. Your signature on this petition can make a difference in changing the way animals are bought and sold and ultimately dumped by unscrupulous, unfeeling people. Your signature can be another voice that says to Craigslist.. ENOUGH! Craigslist's Pet classified section is a main resource for backyard breeders, While it is true that you can flag ads for removal, it takes several different flags to remove an ad, which in turn can be posted right away after deletion with little or no effort. It is time to remove this section altogether. Shelters and Rescues are overwhelmed by the burden of caring for these unwanted animals that have been bought and sold on Craigslist. That cute puppy or kitten becomes an unwanted adolescent who ultimatlely ends up heartbroken and euthanized because there is simply no room at shelters and rescues. Please support this petition to Craigslist to ban Pet ads. It's a major step in the battle to eliminate overwhelmed shelters and the sad destruction of unwanted pets.
