I am passionate about the well-being and harmony of Lummi Nation because it is part of my family, my community, and my heritage. As a family of peace and prosperity, it's essential for us to maintain an environment where all who live and visit can feel safe, valued, and respected. This sentiment extends beyond ourselves; it's about fostering an understanding and acceptance of our culture by non-natives.

Today, we're asking for the creation and implementation of new policies and laws within Lummi Nation that will enhance safety and exemplify inclusivity. Our request is twofold.

1.  Firstly, we propose stricter policies that help everyone understand and respect tribal land. By doing so, we ensure that non-natives are aware of the intricacies and the sacredness of our land, respecting our traditions and cultural boundaries.                       
2. Secondly, there's an urgent need to enact laws that address and deter racism. No form of discrimination should be tolerated in Lummi Nation. The introduction of laws against racial intolerance will not only protect our people but will also promote unity and understanding among all communities. Various studies have shown that legislative frameworks in favor of anti-racism lead to a significant decrease in racially motivated incidents, fostering a more harmonious society.
   
   By taking these actions, we not only protect our values but also educate others about our culture and rights.
