County Executive Pittman,

We, the undersigned residents respectfully request that you reconsider the future use of the farmland on Millersville Rd.

The Department of Recreation and Parks has presented their proposal for a Tennis Complex on this property and we feel it is not appropriate for the following reasons:

1. The proposed use of the RLD zoned property is a dis-service to the neighbors who rely on zoning laws to maintain the quiet, rural nature of the area and their property values.

2. This facility would add traffic onto Millersville Road across from our Elementary School, and would draw traffic from the entire region. This is overly burdensome especially considering the ongoing rapid commercial development being allowed along nearby Route 3. The inadequate traffic study woefully under quantifies this.

3. The runoff from the large expanses of necessary pavement would only further challenge the Indian Branch and Jabez 3 watersheds. If these streams are overburdened they will negatively affect the Sewell Branch and Severn River.

4. The planned outdoor lighting and the schedule to operate until 10 or 11 pm will create unwanted light pollution not in keeping with the rural nature of the community.

5. This property has been a farm for over 150 years and is surrounded by numerous historic properties. It should remain as similar to this as possible.

Furthermore, athletic fields such as soccer, lacrosse or similar uses are more inappropriate for this location for all of the above reasons.

The community would like the property used for a lower impact purpose such as:

1. Nature or farm conservancy.
2. Community Supported Agriculture / Agricultural education.
3. 4-H or similar programs.
4. Walking and /or biking trails.
5. Dog park.
