Bonner County Bee exposes Linscott and his claims

In 1997 Mr. Linscott was required to have a reclamation plan in place to protect the public for future reclamation and in 1997 came and inspected his land and decided he had dug the minimum amount which was $13,500 at the time. As long as Mr. Linscott was the land disturbed with 40 acres or less, he could continue to pay BAF or Bond Assurance Fund.
The Department of Lands (DOL) public records indicate the Linscott property has been claiming and declaring property disturbed has only been 30 acres since 1997 until 2018. In 2014 an audit flyover by DOL picture indicates the Linscott property has/had approx. 100 acres disturbed and in December 2016 DOL explains to Mr. Frank Linscott in a letter their findings, also requesting he pay $248,000 due to the difference and explaining in the future he will need a traditional bond.  The following year after this letter, Mr. Linscott is asked about much disturbed land and Mr. Linscott says only 32 acres (still) staying under the 40 max.
This should scare all the people who live in this area because we depend on people to be honest and to pay for reclamation because Mr. Linscott has dug very deep and should be being honest about reclamation.
Sadly, even though we have shared this with the Bonner County Planning and Zoning and with the County Commissioners, the only people to take notice on this information is the Bonner County Bee, in this article, and the Department of Lands who is promising to come out as soon as the land is cleared by snow.
We highly suggest letting YOUR county commissioners know how you feel about this issue and allowing anyone who is misleading the Department of Lands can also mislead other important agencies that monitor our water, our air and our safety.
Please write to the newspaper, let your county commissioners know and the Bonner County Planning department.
