Country of Origin Is Not a Crime — End This Racist Immigration Policy

Country of Origin Is Not a Crime — End This Racist Immigration Policy
The Issue
The U.S. immigration system should be based on facts, fairness, and individual merit — not where someone was born.
But under a new policy being finalized by the Trump administration, a person’s country of origin could now count as a “significant negative factor” in green card, asylum, and other immigration applications — even for people who have lived legally in the U.S. for years.
This policy targets immigrants from more than a dozen countries, including Haiti, Sudan, Iran, Venezuela, Myanmar, and Somalia. It would apply to people who have already passed background checks, held legal status, and followed the rules — simply because of where they came from.
This isn’t about national security. It’s about creating an internal extension of the travel ban — one that quietly punishes individuals based on nationality, not conduct.
We demand that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Homeland Security:
- Immediately withdraw this policy before it goes into effect
- Ensure immigration decisions are based on individual review — not blanket assumptions
- Uphold equal treatment, due process, and nondiscrimination under U.S. immigration law.
This policy would devastate families, discriminate against entire communities, and undermine trust in the U.S. legal immigration process.
Add your name to say clearly: Country of origin is not a crime — and it must never be used as one.
