Induct the Oak Ridge Boys & Oak Ridge Boys Quartet into the Country Music Hall of Fame

One of the longest-running groups in country music history, the Oak Ridge Boys started off as a gospel quartet, founded in the 1940's.

During the 40's, they became members of the Grand Ole Opry and started recording what was to become a long string of country gospel albums.

In the 50's, Time Magazine featured them as one of the top-drawing country gospel groups in the nation.

Although the group had several personnel changes, they continued to remain a strong force in the industry.

As you know, what is now the core group, was finalized during the 70's and has become legendary in the country genre, recently celebrating their 40th anniversary together.

The originally quartet had more than 30 albums during their run.

The current lineup has almost as many and they are still recording and performing.

Those numbers do not reflect the compilation and holiday albums.

They've had 23 #1 hits (foreign and domestically), and over 30 top-10 hits.

They've scored 12 gold, 3 platinum, and one double-platinum album ... plus, one double-platinum single.

They've sold 41 million albums worldwide.

They've been honored with receiving:

2 Academy of Country Music Awards

4 Country Music Association Awards

8 GMA Dove Awards

5 Grammy Awards

The Oak Ridge Boys continue to be a strong force in the country music industry.  Although the current lineup formed their rise in the country genre, they have never left behind the original country gospel roots that started the ball rolling  nearly 75 years ago.

It is for the above-mentioned reasons that we the undersigned petitioners think that the nomination committees need to consider inducting the Oaks Ridge Boys into the Country Music Hall of Fame.  And if done, it would be remiss not to also induct/recognize the founding Oak Ridge Quartet.
