Residents of Lake County, Illinois (particularly the village of Grayslake) are familiar with Shooters Sports Bar & Billiards as a business by now.  However, whatever spirits, games and other specialties they may have been known for has, in the past few days, been overshadowed by ownership's racial attitudes.

1. For starters, the bar has a strict "no foreign language music" policy, with anyone who plays it on their jukebox at risk of being kicked out.  They claim it's because of Hispanic youth playing their music "disrupting their atmosphere," but regularly play Rammstein's all-German music.  Methinks they're just anti-Hispanic, which is a BIG no-no ANYWHERE, especially in Lake County and Chicagoland (given the large Hispanic population therein)

2. In various Facebook posts talking about their temporary closer and plans to rebuild, they have referred to COVID-19 as the "Chinese Virus," a Sinophobic epithet which our President has sadly become fond of using.

3. They claim to have a "diverse crowd," but there are numerous eyewitness reports that people of color get considerably worse service than white people who enter this bar.  Also, they have a reputation of not accepting temporary paper IDs, however valid they may be.

4. The owner's son has recently been caught on video using the N-word multiple times, saying he hopes President Trump gets re-elected to "get those (n-words) out," which his family stands by..

5. They have a history of lashing back at customers leaving one-star reviews-THOROUGHLY unprofessional.

Yes, they have a "right" to run their business as we see fit-but we, as customers, have the right to warn others against coming there.  Additionally, you, Nordic Properties Ltd. and Country Faire Plaza, as their landlords, have the right to set standards for your tenets, and we trust that racism is VERY much against your core values.

Therefore, we urge you to revoke Shooters Sports Bar & Billiards' lease, evict their racist ownership, and send a message to your community that you stand for tolerance, respect and diversity.  Hopefully a new tenant will take their place who upholds these values.
