Counter the Intimidation Faced by Migrant Workers and Asylum Seekers
Counter the Intimidation Faced by Migrant Workers and Asylum Seekers
The Issue
Born in a world where luck chooses where we are born, I empathize deeply with the migrant workers and asylum seekers who face intimidating situations daily. As humans, we share this Earth, thus I believe we must share empathy, love and respect. As someone fortunate enough to be born in a nation that offers me safety and freedom, I feel for those not given the same. It is with this empathy that I write - urging us to stand together against unfair treatment that these individuals face.
It saddens me deeply to hear of the fear and hostility that these people encounter in their plight for a safer, better life. These horrible scenes of intimidation towards our fellow human beings should not be tolerated. I want to be clear: this intimidating minority does not speak for me.
Let us show the world that we are not defined by the actions of intimidation from the minority, but by the compassion and openness of the majority. Let us ensure that the voices of empathy and respect drown out those of intolerance.
Please sign this petition to strengthen its message - reassuring migrant workers and people seeking asylum that we stand with them, and that they are welcome here. By signing, you exemplify the majority who believe in equality, love, and respect. Sign now, stand together, and make your voice heard.
