Stop Bird Window Strikes at Colonel Samuel Smith Park

"Over 25 million birds are lost to window strikes across Canada annually. The number of birds in the United States and Canada has declined by 3 billion, or 29 percent, over the past half-century, scientists find. The skies are emptying out. The number of birds in the United States and Canada has fallen by 29 percent since 1970." - NY Times
At Colonel Samuel Smith Park we are bird and nature lovers. Currently the Powerhouse on the property of the city park is experiencing window strikes almost daily during fall migration. The birds are being collected and recorded on the FLAP map (Fatal Light Awareness Program) as well as many concerned citizens have reached out to our local politicians and the city without much response and with NO ACTION.
We are asking this situation to be rectified immediately as fall migration continues by placing the proper decals on the windows of the powerhouse to prevent further strikes. The decals currently on the windows do not cover the right amount of surface area and are not on all windows on all sides.
