The North Sydney Council are stuck in the 1980’s. They are still planting trees that can only withstand a temperate climate. Hello, climate change, since the 1990’s the summers days are 40 days longer and hotter this means temperate trees aren’t any good anymore particularly on high traffic roads like Military Rd Neutral Bay. Plane trees - temperate 👎. Tulip trees - temperate 👎.
Best trees for subtropical summer days on Military Rd Neutral Bay are the “Shademaster Honeylocust” trees they can handle temperate and subtropical temperatures, they grow faster, make low mess, no allergens, no irritants, won’t drop branches on your head or car and don’t smother/kill plant life below with their leaves.
If the Council don’t remove those temperate Tulip Trees they planted on Military Rd and replace them with Shademaster Honeylocust they are not only wasting money they are reducing pollution filtering and endangering the public.
