Open a re-vote for the UK/EU referendum

Andy Baker started this petition to Council of the European Union

The UK voted in favour of leaving the EU by 52 per cent to 48 per cent.

This is problematic for a number of reasons, namely:

  • Polls showed remaining in the EU was a favourite
  • Voting was done with paper and pencil which is easy to manipulate
  • "Remain" and "exit" canvassers ignored pitching to many visible ethnic minorities which made these ignored people feel excluded from voting and many of them made a point not to vote due to being ignored.
  • Many eligible but non-voters have expressed regret in not voting and would vote again given the chance.
  • The decision to leave or stay in the EU is a huge decision with immense implications and should not be decided by one vote
  • The 48/52 percentage is too close and a for a nation to decide their fate one way or another on such a narrow percentage implies that a 2nd vote is needed.

Please sign this petition if you feel that a revote for the UK remaining in or leaving the EU is needed.
