Save the Berwick Springs Entrance

Save the Berwick Springs Entrance
The issue
Could this lack of consultation happen to you on the street where you live?
Recently in November 2016, residents of the Berwick Springs Estate in Narre Warren South, VIC found out by accident that our beloved parkland, trees and bluestone entry feature walls to our estate would be impacted by an enlargement x5 of our current small roundabout at the intersection of Greaves Road and Berwick Springs Promenade. The proposal has the roundabout positioned to ensure the new residential estate (Alira)was not impacted at all however we lose our mature trees, paths, landscaping and the bluestone walls would be pushed back some 50-60 meters into our Berwick Springs estate. The plan states that the walls will be reinstated and pushed back near the bridge and the mature tree lined street will see trees replaced with 1m native shrubs.
The community was not consulted on this major intersection change. Casey Council point the finger at the Victorian Planning Authority, Melbourne Water and Vic Roads. Statements have been made from those agencies stating they do not have an issue with the location of the roundabout as long as the design guidelines are met. Casey Council are the planning authority. Our petition which is currently at 1200 residents and friends helps us create a voice and say 'no' to lack of consultation, disclosure and transparency within our local government.
We love where we live, we care about our estate and we know that our parkland is the Jewel in the crown of the area. That entry tells us that we are 'home' and the beautiful entry is inviting to everyone who enjoys the parks facilities. We don't feel we should have to give up any part of the lifestyle that we bought into some 15-20 years ago.
With the assistance of Judith Graley MP, Luke Donnellan MP and our petition we are now awaiting a further report prepared by the developer and council due in February 2017. We are preparing to take this fight as far as we can. Every person that supports us gets us a step closer.
Please support us by adding your signature to our petition and help us show them the 'Power of the People'.
To assist us in taking this fight to the next level we have started a gofundme campaign to raise funds if we need to take this to VCAT. Please give what you can to support this cause:
