Here in Texas, we take a lot of pride in what we do and who we support. My Texan friends and I are conscious consumers, and we care deeply about where we get our food from. I don’t want my money going to places that have unethical practices. 

That’s why I was so shocked when I read about a recent investigation that uncovered astounding levels of cruelty at Costco’s chicken farms. Chickens are genetically modified to grow six times as fast as chickens were in 1925. Often they’re born with painful deformities. The living conditions are abysmal: chickens are forced to sit in their own feces and crammed together in tiny spaces with thousands of other birds. Still, even after this was revealed, Costco has refused to take action or make any changes. 

No animal should be forced to live like this, and no business should allow this to happen. 200+ other businesses have adopted the Better Chicken Commitment. Until Costco changes, I’d rather shop places that employ ethical animal welfare policies. Please sign this petition and join me in urging Costco to do better for chickens.
