In February 2016, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans (including Cory Gardner) argued that during an election year, the Senate shouldn't take up President Barack Obama's nominee to replace the late-Justice Antonin Scalia, arguing that the American people should have a say in who gets to fill the vacancy. Gardner said in February 2016 that "We're too close to the election."

Well, here we are in September 2020 (less than 50 days until the election), and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away -- leaving a vacancy on the Supreme Court.

It's just like Mitch and Cory said: the voters deserve a say in who will pick Justice Ginsburg's successor. With the 2020 election so close, the Senate should not take up a vote on a new Supreme Court nominee until 2021, when a president has been inaugurated.
