Correct the Display of the American Flag on Uniforms and Vehicles

The Issue

I am deeply moved by the symbolism of our national flag. The way it is displayed, especially on uniforms and vehicles, holds significant meaning for me. Currently, when shown on the right side of uniforms or vehicles, our flag is reversed. This tradition suggests that wind is pushing it back as the person or vehicle goes to someone’s aid. While this sentiment isn't inherently negative, I believe it could be more impactful to display our country's strength through an unwavering flag.

Displaying a reversed flag only happens on a flagpole - but should this be mirrored in other contexts? The answer isn't simply blowin’ in the wind; we need to take action.

According to U.S Army Regulation 670-1: Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia, "The American flag patch is to be worn, right or left shoulder, so that “the star field faces forward," implying movement towards conflict (source: U.S Army Regulation 670-1). However, this interpretation may not resonate with everyone.

It's time we reconsider how we display our national symbol. Let's show that our country has strength through its steadfast representation - not one pushed backward by winds of change but one standing firm against them.

Please sign this petition if you agree that we should correct how the American Flag is displayed on uniforms and vehicles – showing strength rather than weakness.
