Petition to Oppose the Sudden Shift Toward Overly Strict and Conservative Policies at  Corpus Christi Catholic High School Oak flats

To:

Mr Wayne Marshall

Principal

Corpus Christi Catholic High School

We, the undersigned parents, guardians, students, and concerned members of the CCHS community, express our deep concern regarding the recent changes to school rules and policies that have taken a sharp turn toward an overly strict and conservative direction.

These changes—enforced with little to no community consultation—have negatively impacted the comfort, confidence, and overall well-being of our children. Many students feel restricted, judged, and silenced under the weight of these new guidelines. Parents have reported increased anxiety in their children, a decline in school morale, and an erosion of the positive school culture we once valued.

We believe that:

The new rules are unnecessarily strict and do not align with the inclusive and respectful environment we expect for our children.
These policies are being implemented without transparent communication or meaningful input from parents, students, or staff.
A school should prioritize student comfort, individuality, and mental health—values that appear to be increasingly ignored.

We respectfully urge the administration to:

Halt further implementation of these strict changes, which have led to a very conservative nature and impacting the emotional wellbeing of students and carers.
Re-evaluate existing policies with input from parents, students, and teachers.
Commit to a school environment that is inclusive, progressive, and supportive of student expression and well-being.

Our children deserve to learn in a space where they feel safe, accepted, and confident—not one where they are subjected to overly controlling rules that stifle individuality and foster fear.

We request an immediate review of these decisions and an open forum to hear from families and students who are directly affected.

The official school website proudly displays students in promotional images who clearly do not adhere to many of these listed standards. For example, your site includes photos of students wearing visible makeup, styled hair, and earrings that appear to fall outside the allowed specifications. This inconsistency sends mixed messages to both students and parents, and it undermines the trust and clarity we expect from the school’s leadership.

More importantly, the rigid enforcement of these grooming rules—particularly with the threat of excluding non-compliant students from being photographed—places unnecessary pressure on students. This may negatively impact their self-confidence, discourage self-expression, and turn what should be a memorable school experience into a source of stress and exclusion. Many families, including ours, are reconsidering participation in school photos as a result.

Sincerely,

Parents/Cares of Students who attend
